About Sue

My name is Sue. I am a graduate of East Stroudsburg State College (now University) in Psychology. I have a Masters in Educational Psychology with a certification in School Psychology and a Masters of Science in Exceptional Persons. I also have State Certificates as a School Psychologist and Elementary Guidance Counselor and a license to practice Psychology in the state of Pennsylvania.

I have worked 38 years in the field of Psychology with a specialty in assessment. In addition to my work performing assessment of learning problems I have also worked doing assessments for disability services and benefits. More recently, I have become an Instructor for Dialectic Behavioral Therapy(DBT).

I live in central Pennsylvania with my husband and my 12-1/2 year-old mini St. Bernard (85 pounds).  I enjoy a variety of outside activities include walking, biking, cross-country and downhill skiing, and swimming. I am also involved in Yoga, Zumba, and Hip-Hop classes.

I am also an avid traveler and love to explore new places, people and things.

A self-professed workaholic, I was first diagnosed with Macular Degeneration in June, 2015. I experienced what I interpret to be a catastrophic collapse of my left macula in February, 2016.

This work is a therapeutic, hopefully educational, chronicle of my journey through this experience.

“We’re going on a bear hunt…..can’t go under it, can’t go over it, can’t go around it. Got to go through it.”

Sue also writes for the site maculardegeneration.net. You can find her articles at the end of her biography.
