  • Dr. Demetrios Vavvas holds the Monte J. Wallace Ophthalmology Chair in Retina at Harvard Medical School and is a full-time clinician scientist at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary.
  • The co-author Professor Robert Tibshirani of Stanford University is one of the world’s pre-eminent biostatisticians and a recognized pioneer of the bootstrapping statistical technique used in the analysis.
  • Another co-author is  Dr. Kent Small, an internationally-recognized retina specialist and geneticist.
  • Co-authors Dr. Carl Awh and Dr. Brent Zanke, who first identified the genotype groups that distinguish response to the AREDS formulation (Ophthalmology, 2013 and 2015) have disclosed their conflicts of interest.
  • The PNAS publication represents an independent academic effort without corporate support or sponsorship.
